Glycans are involved in many bio-communication processes, including cell-cell recognition, sperm-egg interaction, embryonic development, and carcinogenesis, because of their complexity and structural heterogeneity. In particular, our research group has been interested in fucosylated glycans for a long time. These molecules, which have been first analysed in reproductive biology, are currently studied in normal and cancer cell lines to determine their location and function. Additionally, the impact of growth factors and/or hormones on the expression of these fucosylated determinants, cell migration, and proliferation, is assessed.
