Cytoskeleton and Cell Motility in Animal Cells

The lab activities are focused on the morpho-functional analysis of cilia/flagella and their related structures in different eukaryotic models, using biochemical, immunomicroscopy and state-of-the-art ultrastructural strategies.  General interest in these organelles comes from their implication in the onset of an increasing series of human syndromes.

  • Primary cilium dynamics during Drosophila spermatogenesis
  • Comparative ultrastructure and evolution of insect sperm flagella
  • Morphofunctional analysis and 3D modelling of Chlamydomonas flagella: i) fine ultrastructure of intraflagellar transport complexes, ii) transition zone ultrastructure and the control of ciliary trafficking.
